Learn to Chant – Mahalakshmi Ashtakam
November 10th, 2009 by Shree

The following octet is called the Mahalakshmi Ashtakam. This is a prayer to Goddess Maha Lakshmi who is also called “Shree” and represents wealth as well as auspiciousness. Sri Mahalakshmi Ashtakam originally appeared in Padmapuranam (Padma Purana). It is considered to have been chanted by Indra, the Lord of the Devas to propitiate Goddess Mahalakshmi.

This sing along version has text in Sanskrit, English and Tamil and meanings in English

The Sanskrit text and meanings are available here in a downloadable format

Am I missing something, or could it be that the phonetic isn’t included?

it would help enormously for every song to be available in a separate pdf file – both phonetic and translation.

    Many thanks

    Best wishes

    Guy

It is really a great experience to simply listen to this sloka of Mahalakshmi which gives lot of mental peace and tranquility. The listener should completely surrender and forget all worries in order to experience that great feeling !
